So I wanted to do a series of posts about my Top Five fav restaurants in a category and I thought the best place for me to start was with my own fav type of food... Chinese of course!
So here they are, my favourite five Chinese restaurants ...
1 - RED CHILLI | OXFORD ROAD, MANCHESTER
I've been eating here for many years now and the food is so good. It's pretty authentic and is a little different from your usual style of Chinese food. This is a little spicier and has some different dishes.
MY TOP DISHES: Tung Choi with Malaysian Sauce, Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab, Sweet Chilli Aubergine and (if you eat meat) the Beijing Duck with the soup to go with it.
2 - GLAMOROUS RESTAURANT | OLDHAM ROAD, MANCHESTER
The best place for dim sum in Manchester has to be here! I adore the food here and it reminds me of Hong Kong so much. I love the fact that they have the trollies on at weekend and you can just pick food off them straight away - I love instant food ha ha! If you fancy this, try it for lunch and get lots of small plates to share, this is the best way to eat it! Plus they have a giant car park right outside the door - fab!
MY TOP DISHES: Satay squid, Portuguese Tart, Har Gau (Prawn Dumplings), Silken Tofu (Sunday only)
3 - OCEAN TREASURE AT CHI YIP | MIDDLETON, MANCHESTER
So it's a bit more of a drive here out of Manchester City Centre but the food is fabulous! It's a great authentic restaurant which has fabulous food day or night. They do freshly made dim sum for lunch time and their food in the evening is super high quality too.
MY TOP DISHES: Satay Squid (the do the original dried type here - the only place left that does it in Manchester!), Custard Buns, Steamed Crab with Sticky Rice and (if you like your meat) the roast meats are very fresh here
4 - DUCK & RICE | SOHO, LONDON
There are quite a few London based Chinese restaurants to choose from. The most popular is probably Hakkasan, but I didn't think the food was that spectacular there (similar to PF Changs in Dubai). Don't get me wrong, it was quite nice but I found Duck & Rice much better quality and also a bit quirkier. Nestled just on the edge of China Town in Soho, this place is a traditional English style build with a Chinese twist.
MY TOP DISHES: Well, it has to be the Roast Duck right??! Plus any of their dim sum selection is fab too.
5 - CHUNG KU | THE WATERFRONT, LIVERPOOL
This is a place I love but hardly ever get time to visit. If you fancy some Chinese dim sum with a view, this is the place to go. It's sat on the waterfront in Liverpool with a view of the water. The dim sum is so freshly made and also very authentic. Definitely a place to check out if you fancy a change.
MY TOP DISHES: What can I say... it's been a while! Just go for anything on the dim sum menu and I'm sure you will be happy!
I hope you have enjoyed this post and maybe discovered a restaurant or two you may not have visited before.
Thanks so much for reading,
Big love,
Em x
