EATING OUT: Artisan Manchester

So, last weekend we decided to go for a little bite to eat in town. I love going to Spinningfields, I just think it has such a cool vibe around there and there is such a fab choice of places to eat. We decided to go to Artisan. I love eating here and I've not been in a little while for some reason, so it was nice to go back. I know most of you have probably already eaten there already, but for those who haven't, here's my 'Eating Out' at Artisan in Manchester.

I'm not usually one to have starters but I spied the artichoke on the menu and I just couldn't resist. To be honest, it wasn't what I expected. I envisioned some kind of chargrilled/roasted artichoke and instead it was stone cold and kind of tough.

But, once you had finished chewing the ends of the leaves (because this was all you could do with them!), the heart of the artichoke was actually ok. It was rather random, but I wouldn't not have it again.

Then, for mains I went for the baked sea bass and hubs went for the burger. My fish was actually really nice. It was cooked really well and not too dry - I'm the fussiest with fish as it can be overcooked so easily, but this was really nice. I will eat a little bit of fish when I'm out as I find the veggie options are usually ladened with cheese - which isn't really what I fancied.

I had it with a side of greens which were edamame beans, sugar snap peas, kale etc which was ok. I don't think I'd order the greens again. Serves me right for going for the healthy option ha ha! I think next time I'll just got for the sweet potato fries!

Then, finally for dessert we shared the warm chocolate brownie, cup of peppermint tea and an Americano coffee. The brownie was as expected. TO DIE FOR! It was covered in a hot chocolate sauce and was really good. There are so many ways to get a brownie wrong, too hard, not gooey enough, not warm enough, too hot etc etc but this one was seriously good. I only had a little bit of the ice cream as it just doesn't suit my tummy, but it was worth the bloat afterwards ha ha!

I do love this restaurant. Sometimes it can be a bit hit and miss, but I would say 90% of the time it's great. Plus, it's not just about the food but the experience as well. I think that's what I love about Spinngfields is that it's more of an experience that just food out. The restaurants are all a bit quirky or different and Artisan is definitely up there with one of the best. Proper food, chilled atmosphere, but still feels like a good night out at the same time. You can go in your scruffs or in your heels and still never feel out of place. I would definitely say check it out if you fancy something a bit different in a fun, quirky environment.

Thanks so much for reading! Let me know if you go!

Have a great weekend,

Emmaline x
