INSPIRATION: I will be happy when...

Hi, welcome back!

Today I wanted to do a short post on something that I've been thinking about for a while now. About being satisfied! I think that some of us tend to see happiness and success as something that will suddenly appear in the distant future. Yes, we are happy now, but not like we will be. We seem to think that we will be happy/successful/satisfied when...
  • we get that bag/pair of shoes/coat etc that we've dreamed of
  • we get the body of our dreams. We will get back on track with eating 'well', and when we do there will be no stopping us!
  • we get the car we want.
  • we can holiday 3-4 times a year
  • we earn a £50,000/£100,000, £1,000,000 a year salary
I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. I'm not criticising either! I do it all the time! At the moment I've seen a beautiful bag I want and I know when I get that bag 'my life will be complete' and everything will be sprinkled with fairy dust and life will be great right? Well... probably not. Realistically, I will be on to the next thing right away and before long you're looking at something else. I will still feel like the same person, still have the same life and probably nothing much will change. What is it that I'm chasing??
I guess the point I'm trying to make here is how important it is to be more present, appreciative and grateful for all the things we already have. We need to realise that a big fancy watch/handbag/car/house/shoes etc. will not necessarily bring us anymore happiness than we have right now. I'm sure you have at least one item at the back of your wardrobe that you desperately wanted and now it's scrunched up in a ball somewhere! We need to learn to accept ourselves for who we are. Enjoy life and practice more self love! We are so fortunate in the Western world that we forget that so many people are dreaming about what it must be like to be as fortunate as we are... right now... reading this!

Use this mantra today... I love and accept myself. I am grateful for everything I have.

So today be grateful for being able to hear the birdies sing, to see the clouds in the sky and the flowers in the garden. Once we appreciate these little things, the rest of that 'stuff' doesn't really matter!

Just something to think about...

Thanks so much for reading,

Big love,

Em x
